CARVICO GROUP PRESIDENT – MRS LAURA COLNAGHI CALISSONI – HAS BEEN AWARDED THE PRESTIGIOUS TITLE OF “ CAVALIERE DEL LAVORO”
The President of the Italian Republic, Mr Sergio Mattarella, awarded four women with such honorable title, and among them there was also the President of one of the most important textile groups in the world.
“I would like to dedicate this award to the whole Group and to my collaborators”. This was the first official statement released by the President and CEO of Carvico Group – the market leader in the production of stretch warp knitted and circular knitted fabrics for sportswear, beachwear and underwear – after having received the official notification of the fact that she was one of the 25 new Cavalieri del Lavoro, appointed on June 1 by the President of the Italian Republic.
Mrs Laura Colnaghi Calissoni, wife of the company founder, Mr Giuseppe Colnaghi, after his premature death in 2005, has been running the Group which, over the past ten years has increased the number of its employees up to 830 and has consolidated its presence in the global textile market with the addition of two new offices in China and in the USA and of a production plant in Vietnam ( this latter devoted to the South-East Asian markets ) .
“Beppi – this used to be Giuseppe Colnaghi’s nickname – was an old-style entrepreneur who believed that running a business also implied fulfilling a social mission : he was proud of having given a job to so many people. Thus, the first thing I wanted to do when I received such a wonderful piece of news, was thanking my closest collaborators and, through them, also all our employees. And, according to the same logic, I can say that this award hasn’t only made me feel proud of what we have achieved so far, but has increased my motivation even further to make our company even more socially and financially responsible ”.
However, this has always been one of the main targets of the Group which, in the respect of its tradition, has been investing in technology, but also in the safeguard of the environment and in the pursue of a 100% Made in Italy quality level.
The award ceremony is taking place on October 2nd at the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome.
The Cavaliere del Lavoro award
Created in 1901, this prestigious award is given every year on the day of the Festa della Repubblica ( Celebration of the Anniversary of the Italian Republic ) to a selection of Italian business people which have stood up in the fields of agriculture, commerce, industry, finance and insurances. In order to receive it, entrepreneurs must have been operating consistently and autonomously in their field for over twenty years, and must have contributed in a relevant way to the social and financial development of the country and to its innovation.
