Vuelta, Alaska and Artica, fit for wintersports - ISPO 2009 (Munich

For its winter collection, Carvico presents technical brushed fabrics, all with brand new colour cards. These fabrics are ideal for sportswear that must guarantee high performance at high altitudes. Cycling, mountain biking, trekking and running allow for the full expression and ideal application of these fabrics.
Vuelta, Alaska and Artica provide exceptional heat insulation, optimum breathability and high resistance to pilling and abrasion. Garments made with these fabrics can be used in contact with the skin over long periods without causing irritation. Each fabric undergoes a Sanitized® bacteriostatic treatment, preventing the spread of bacteria that cause unpleasant odours.
Vuelta is a technical bi-stretch brushed fabric, perfect for practising very demanding aerobic sports, when it is essential to wear garments that guarantee proper heat exchange between the body and the outside. This fabric is breathable, anti-pilling, abrasion-resistant and has a soft raised nap. It also offers optimum wearability, extreme softness and easy care. Its high stretch level allows the creation of clothing that is not constricting and does not limit athletes’ movements, bringing aerodynamic performance to perfection.
The fabric’s high level of heat insulation and exceptional breathability let muscles work in a warm dry environment, thus preventing muscular damage. The new colour card presented for 2010 has a broader range of colours with the inclusion, besides classic sports colours, of a vintage sports range, complemented with fresh neon accents, ideal for winter cycling gear and trendy sweatshirts with a cool young flavour.
Composition: 85% Polyamide - 15% Elastane Weight: 250 g/m2
Alaska and Artica, which are similar in terms of technology, differ only in weight and composition. Researches on the fur of the polar bear, one of the rare animals capable of surviving extreme climatic conditions and broad temperature ranges, were the basis for the creation of these technical fabrics. They are made up of hundreds of hollow microfilaments, which work like an insulation chamber between the skin and the outside. The specific structure of the fabric allows natural evaporation of perspiration: absorbing very little water, the fabrics dry rapidly, while keeping the body temperature constant. This reduces energy consumption to a minimum and improves athletic performance.
These fabrics strike a perfect balance between heat insulation and lightness, avoiding constriction caused by the weight and thickness of traditional materials. They are wear-resistant, easy-care and withstand intense washing without the fibres showing signs of deterioration. The fabrics have a brand new colour card for the 2010 season: classic sporty colours (red, yellow, orange and blue) are combined with unusual dual-colour mixes, with a sports-glamour flavour. Originally designed for sports, they are also perfect for other kinds of clothing, such as sweatshirts, jackets and coats, with a casual sporty look.
