The president

The legacy was passed from the hands of founder Giuseppe Colnaghi to those of his wife Ms. Laura Colnaghi Calissoni, since 2005, when her husband passed away, she has headed the Carvico Group: italian textile group made up of companies Carvico SpA  and Jersey Lomellina SpA of Carvico (Bergamo) and Eurojersey SpA of Caronno Pertusella (VA).

The Group’s success and the goals achieved have been, and still are, what spur Ms. Colnaghi Calissoni on towards the future with determination and tenacity, values that have been the hallmark of the Bergamo company since 1962, and which since her appointment as President of the Group, she has wanted to transmit to her employees as an important message of continuity.

Being involved in the textile industry in Italy today is a major challenge that requires passion and expertise, with a precise objective: to win the confrontation with global markets. For an Italian group can meet this challenge by investing in quality and innovation, and especially in the company's most valuable resource, people.

My course in the Group has been marked by what I call the “small conquests” that I experience together with my closest co-workers and all the people who are committed every day to improving the quality of our products and working conditions and to respecting our environmental code of ethics, our Green Vision (the company for the minimization of pollutant emissions).  
 

We are going against the current, we know that. Our industry has seen a growing delocalization of production, often undertaken without respecting the values that distinguish "Made in Italy". However, we take comfort in the numbers that show our Group growing and making a name for itself in the world, gaining the appreciation of customers and end-consumers. 
 

Sustainable, eco-friendly “fair growth” is really possible, and is our main commitment. Our companies manufacture fabrics with a low environmental impact and excellent performance. I am the first to test and use our more technical fabrics “in the field”, and on more than one occasion they have actually been my trump card in my playing days. When I see our research laboratories and see what we are getting ready for the future, I am really excited about the direction we are taking. As a sportswoman I understand the truly amazing potential, and as a businesswoman I am extremely proud of the excellence achieved and the ability of our companies to compete at the top of the industry thanks to their capacity to innovate and renew.
 

The future will require great commitment from us, but it is a commitment that does not frighten us. We are used to competition and we transform it into a chance to express our qualities to their very best. This for me is the Carvico group – I live its spirit, taking it with me in the sporting challenges I enjoy competing."

Laura Colnaghi Calissoni practiced as a lawyer in Italy and the United States, where she lived for a long time. The mother of two children, she has taken part in competitive sports since 1996 and is often among the protagonists in national and international cross-country skiing, running, cycling and roller skiing events. Her most significant results include:
 

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING 
• World championship Master: 10 gold medals (7 individual and 3 relay), 8 silver medals (6 individual and 2 relay), 10 individual bronze medals
• Italian championship Master: 26 category titles, including 4 absolute
• 45km Marcialonga: one victory in 2008, two 2nd places one in 2009 and the other in 2006, one 3rd place in 2007 
• various regional and provincial titles: various placings
 

RUNNING
• New York Marathon

• wins in various "Avon Running"
• wins in various Engadiner Sommerlauf
• half-marathons
• Milan-Pavia
• wins in the 10 km "Sociale Gamber Race" and "Run for Life"

CYCLING
• Regional Duathlon Champion (from 1997 to 2000)
• various individual chronometer and mountain Regional titles
• winner of the Italian Lawyers and Notaries Championship in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010
• Dolomites Marathons and "Fabio Casartelli" Granfondo 2003
 

ROLLER SKIING
• one absolute victory in 2008 in the Bobbio Penice
